 Wrestle With God

GENESIS 32

That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”
“Jacob,” he answered.

28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”
But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon

"JACOB WAS LEFT ALONE".   THERE ARE TIMES WE MUST REMOVE OURSELVES FROM THOSE AROUND US. THE TIMES WHEN GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO A PLACE  IN YOUR WALK WITH HIM TO BE ALONE. THIS PLACE WILL CHANGE THE COURSE YOU ARE PRESENTLY ON. IT IS THE PLACE WHERE THE CRY OF THE INNER MAN BECOMES; "NOT MY WILL, BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE". IT IS A NAME CHANGER; "NOW YOUR NAME WILL NO LONGER BE". IT IS THE PLACE APPOINTED BY GOD HIMSELF, IN ORDER TO COMFORT THOSE THAT HOLD THE VISION OF THE MISSION. HE KNOWS THAT NOTHING ELSE WILL SATISFY THIS WARRIOR, UNTIL HE CAN SAY; "TODAY I HAVE SEEN GOD FACE TO FACE".

IS THAT YOU? THEN COME AWAY MY BELOVED. "WHEN YOU SEEK ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART THEN YOU WILL FIND ME".  SELAH....

Gethsemane

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!

Ephesians 5:14

14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
